Observation Order Set

Basic Orders for admitting a patient to ED Observation can be found under the "ED Observation" Order set.

Updates:

The ED Observation order set is being updated. Edits have been submitted to include the following changes:

• Orders will be mandatory for PRN Pain, PRN Nausea, and diet at time of admission (there will be a choice for "no prn pain order" etc that will satisfy the hard stop)

• ALTO orders - currently written as one time doses - will be made ongoing (e.g. Q6h Prn)

• The hard stop to choose a VTE prophylaxis order will be removed

• Unused portions of the order set (e.g. Eating Disorders) will be removed

• Orders that are not appropriate for ED obs (e.g. Cefepime for Pneumonia) will be removed

These edits have been submitted, however the review process, as well as the process for writing them into Epic takes several months. I appreciate your patience.
